The recent creation of the Automotive Cluster in Sonora represents an opportunity to unify efforts to strengthen the automotive sector and to promote the arrival of new investments that will position Sonora as one of the main automotive hubs in the country, according to business representatives.
Among the main goals of the automotive cluster, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are to take advantage of nearshoring opportunities, attract and retain strategic investments, and promote the growth of local suppliers. It also intends to implement public policies to improve regulation, develop productive infrastructure and strengthen the regional economy.
The signing ceremony was attended by REDCAM (National Network of Automotive Industry Clusters), Alfonso Durazo was named Honorary President, and Juan Carlos Campoy Ramos, Director of New Concept Technology, was named President of the Sonora Automotive Cluster. The signing ceremony took place at the Ford Hermosillo plant.
